Sweet relief: I spent far too long, physically spent at the end of a long day, trying different search term combinations to find a sidescroll space shooter game I used to play in the 80’s. It wasn’t Stargate. It wasn’t Defender. I was convinced it was a C64 game; I remember the data tape recorder. IT WAS PARSEC! “Great shot, pilot!” 1982, and a Texas Instruments game! Unsurprising: I still suck at it.

The weather outside is frightful: Big storm today, sideways rain and wind straining the trees. I hate it, it’s battering. It whips me in the eyeballs with my hair. Rain runs down my legs into my boots. I was out in it most of the day because it was also a big thaw - we’ve been under the first snow of the year and a substantial blanket at that, all week - which meant the last stab at frenetic winterizing. But the chickens came out of the greenhouse to graze (thaw). They were delighted and so was Poky to rejoin them and the cuteness of the reunion nearly killed me.

It’s out tomorrow: Demonic Devourers book one by Aaron Shih Truly top shelf progression fantasy gamelit. Hells yeah. I loved narrating this book.

What’s new: And yet, the farthest thing from new… reading physical books. From the library even. I’ve been so out of practice reading paper books I have to put it on my daily list in order to do it. The novelty! (Reading What My Body Knows, by Stephanie Foo.)
