What’s blowing my mind: I was just told that “getting worse before getting better” is common when doing personal growth work, like EMDR or hypnosis. It’s “like having sore muscles after working out. Your brain is reshaping itself, which can be extremely uncomfortable, even painful.” How have I never heard this before?!!! It makes all the sense, and puts a whole new complexion on what I have previously referred to as “backsliding”, on all kinds of fronts! Thanks to Curt Bonnem for the perfect comments at the perfect time :)
What I'm grateful for: That I can MOVE again. I have energy again; it returns. I skated. I went to the gym - twice! I scythed. Very grateful to have my energy creep back in palpable ways. My scope of attention grows wider as my capability grows.
Exciting miscellany: A shockingly fecund buttercup squash plant in the greenhouse; a baby rooster whose crow is coming online (Nosey III is a roo); an unexpected but perfect use of “exsanguinating” in a manuscript.
What’s on the TBS (To Be Solved) list: Envy. Etc. The paradoxes of belief and behavior.
